G'Day all, Can any one help with some suggestions on how to raise the steering wheel height or I guess lower the seat? I could lose a few pounds that would help a bit but it all is just to close. I have spent 2 years now on my 1964 f600 H/D truck and just about there but it will be to uncomfortable to drive I want to keep it original. thanks Brian.
Thanks for your replys, when I removed the steering coloum and steering box there seemed to be movement up and down under the dash. What I was thinking was to reduce the width of the support plate between the lower edge of the dash and the steering coloum clamp? In Australia all large trucks use 20" cast spider rims I have used 10.00 X20 radial on the steer so a smaller wheel would make turning a little hard.Take care Brian.
You can take the slider off the bench seats and just bolt the seat frame directly to the floor and it will lower the seat 2 or 3 inches and move it back a couple. You do loose fore and aft adjustability, but if that's not a problem for you, it makes a world of difference.
G'Day again. re lowering the seat by removing the sliding track, I looked at that but the seat is already against the fuel tank and can't go back anymore. I feel the wheel just needs to be further away from me.
and to Numbers dummy Ford Australia must have used left over steering wheels from some where as they are 18" and 3 spokes. Thanks again.
