A few weeks ago i got in a t bone accident in my 1989 ford f150 lariat at 30mph since then the aod tranny goes for about five min then just revs up any ideas i would appreciate. the bumper fender and stone deflector are pretty much twisted metal.

No offense intended, but have you checked the fluid level? Maybe it's leaking & low on fluid? Know that's probably a stupid question, just sometimes we forget stuff ( at least I do ).
no andy the ecm won't cause that. neglect will.. heat will.. you got t-boned you said right? drivers side or passenger side? the ecm is in the cowl on the left side i believe.
The ECM doesnt control the AOD, unless it is an E4OD or an AOD-E. 1989 you may have had the E4OD, but if it isnt the E4OD then I would look for a closed off cooler line.
Just how brown was the fluid, did is smell burned? If the trans fluid is anything but red, then you may have trans problems before the accident and didnt show up yet until after the accident.
