ok so i did my outer tie rod ends the other day, took it for a test drive then got back under to double check, and got coolant leaking on my face, very small drop but i noticed it, found it comes from the front of my truck, also i clean my engine so much and notice my passenger i c boot on the i c always gets caked in oily crap even after i clean it, any ideas where the oil and the coolant comes from? there not leaking cause i tested them.
thanks
dan
Check your water pump weep hole, see if you got any coolant coming from there. Those damn pumps will start to leak, indicative of impending failure, and it can be hard to see where it's leaking from, but unless you definitely see coolant coming from a hose, or even (but extremely rare) the oil cooler, it's almost definitely the damn pump. with a 2000 year truck, your probably better off changing it anyways. I had the same problem, and when I canged the pump, the damn thing pretty much fell apart when I pulled it from the block LOL! You IC boots being oily is, I hate to say, pretty normal. HP air can occasionally blow past the clamp, and as you know with the damn PVC valve dumping oily mist into the turbo, that residue is all insind your intake system, and that is what you see on your pipes.
no its not that, i checked my boots and like its more sludge im also thinking coolant hitting fan, splashing towards that boot? but yeah im not changing my pump due to im doing a motor rebuild on another motor that im going to install here pretty soon, just as long as i dont blow my engine in the next month ill be happy
