had to pick the wife up from work with a no start..
no codes, hooked up my scan tool and it tells me that i have 47psi on the fuel rail, i am seeing flow across the maf...pedal positon is working..
its not even trying to fire...on the instrament cluster the "check emissions" stays on
i am going to try tapping on the iac when i go back up there...
i did hold down the reset button on the cluster to see if any type of code would come up there...but those are all pretty much jiberous to me without a code callout sheet..
any ideas on what to try....looks like it may have to sit till friday morning
Your check engine light should go out after a "bit of cranking".... IF it doesn't, then you are not getting a "timing signal" from your crank sensor.... therefore no "fire", therefore no start.

check engine light go's out..it has thrown no codes...
i can look at different things going on thru my scan tool but cannot see a problem with any thing....prolly some dang module for the canutin valve or something
sorry but I don't understand... I thought you were referring to the "engine indicator" when you said "check emissions" which I don't find any reference to in my 2005 documentation either on the CD or in the owner's manual. Maybe we aren't talking the "same language"... we have only owned ours for a year (bought used) but I have had a ford explorer (96) for 4 and its given me lots of "fun" on the diagnostics side. So where is the "check emissions" displayed?
cause you said "its not even trying to fire...on the instrament cluster the "check emissions" stays on"... hence my confusion
I see now from documentation that the "check engine" and "check emissions" is the same (at least that's what I read / expect)... maybe I don't understand your statements.
there is an icon that lights up for check engineto the right of the speedometer,i believe...and under the tach there is an onboard message center...the message center tells you oil life, miles per gallon and things like that...
it has the display come up of "check emissions"
the check engine light is not on...
thru my auto xray 4000 i can look at different things going on when the vehicle trys to start and everything seems to be o.k.
we have had the check emissions come on before but for the life of me right now i can't remember why...i'll have to look thru the paper work in the garage...
but i do remember it didn't stop the vehicle from starting
OK... that helps me with clarification. So as you continue down the "road"..... the check engine light comes on (and stays on) with key on, then goes off with cranking... right? There are some tests for voltage at a few of the easier to get to spark plugs... in terms of ensuring they are receiving voltage so that their individual coils are firing. That would be the next test IF the check engine light is functioning appropriately.
As for the "service emission system", you might want to first try the self diagnostics with the "set button" to see if it tells you anything.
well the escape is in the dealer...took it in on friday morning...
they could not figure out what was wrong with it on friday...3 guys working on it with the regular tech out for the day...
get a call on monday, have to replace all 6 c.o.p and the main processer..pcm..
thats why it didn't throw a code and must be why it said to check emissions in the display below the tach... it was scrambled??
the pcm is on order, they do not know when they will get it in..up to a week-10 days
trying to get a dang loaner out of them..we still need the wife a vehicle
going to make a call here in a few to see if things have changed..

Reason: spelling
Well, I am not sure why they would have to replace all 6 cop's?????? Its sounds strange.... hope you got a good rapport with the dealer otherwise I suspect that your wallet is going to hurt on their "learning expedition". Good luck, hope it works out... keep us posted on the outcome please.

The TSB was about using certain spark plugs that caused RF interference which may cause possible permanent damage to the PCM coil driver circuits while burning out the COPs.
