Dies in reverse when warmed up
So my buddies 96 auto 2x4 when warmed up will off and on. . . when shifting into reverse bog down real low. . . sometimes die. . . sometimes not. . . sometimes makes the growning noise heard from a manual trans when lugging real low. It feels like and sounds like the torque converter is locked or trying to lock. Sometimes it will be fine just sitting in reverse. . . holding the brakes and then its like it tries to lock it again. Sometimes from that point it will die. . .and sometimes it will come out of it. Ideas? Also. . . AE is having a hard time staying connected. I think there is a bad connection in the DLC. . . common failures? Thanks.

im thinking there is a Torque convertor issue like you had mentioned, some of us here have a TC lock up switch to lock the tc i they dont have a chip and if you leave it locked when coming ot a stop by accident it will do exactly what you described. Now when you said AE has a hard time communicating, does it get threw sometimes or it just wont connect at all? if so check your ciggerette lighter fuse, they are on the same circut and if the fuse blows it takes out the OBD port aswell.
