Let me say thanks in advance. The info that is povided here is priceless. Knowing that I will have egr and oil cooler problems, what would be the problem of installing a remote oil cooler, like the 60's race car guys would, using the same plumbing method as a remote by-pass oil filter would. If you used the best hi-press. tubing fittings ect. what would be the draw back? I know that I have the ability to change/delete egr cooler and replace the oil cooler when needed, but if the units do not leak, would this possibly be an alternative. I do have respect for your advice and my $10,000 motor. Running 15-20 degrees diff. now. Oh heck---THANKS AGAIN
My temps were running about 25 degrees different. I changed the oil cooler and deleted the EGR mess and now the temps are always 2 to 3 degrees apart. The oil cooler is a heat exchanger which also helps warm the oil on cold startups. A remote oil cooler wouldn't help in that sense.
The Wolverine model 16 is a perfect fit on the oil pan. I wired it to the same plug as the block heater and put them on a 3 hour timer. The coolant and oil are warm when I start the truck on cold mornings. I highly recommend it.
