I have 3" drop beams in the front and re-arched my springs in the back for 3" and have a set of shackles for another 1" drop in the rear for a total of 4" for the back. I was able to relocate the sway bar ends farther up the frame in the rear but was wondering what others have done for the front.
When the truck is in the air the sway bar looks fine, but putting it back on the ground the bar rotates down when the truck settles and interferes with the steering linkage.I moved the end links up in the rear, so the front body mount needs to do the same in the front.
Well i called DJM this morning and Mike @ DJM said I had 3 options, 1 the instructions had a reference to the sway bar, 2 sometimes you can install the sway bar upside down and 3 make a plate to move the body mount up on the chassis. So i went home and printed out the instructions which said the 87-96 kit had sway bar hardware included. I then checked to see if there were differenced in 80-96 sway bars on LMC's website and there are not. I called Mike back and he said they make there own material at their shop, he would check the shop and for me to call back in an hour. When i called back he said he was unable to get any extras to sell me, but said that the parts were just longer bolts with spacers. Later while driving with my my wife I called back to ask if I could get any details on the type of bolts and hardware and he told me he had just received all of the said hardware, GREAT NEWS! while I was giving him my purchase info he asked if my wife was still present, I replied yes and Mike said he would send them for free, but I had to give my wife a present or take her out to dinner. Its getting rare to deal with people like that anymore, so I would like to give a shout out to Mike and DJM. Now the part may still not work because of slight differences in the different years, but I will try and keep you all informed.
Thats cool he sent you free hardware. I have had that happen a few times. I wish all companies were like that.
There is a slight difference in the front sway bar from 80-96. Most of the early ones mount directly to the frame. Most of the later ones mount to a skid plate looking deal that is in front of the steering linkage.
