At it again with another somethings wrong. It's either three things, my wiring concerning the external voltage regulator, the regulator itself, or the alts bad. I know the external regulator isn't the original one since I found that one in a junk pile in the bed. So the current one has F which is orange going to the alt. S which wasn't hooked up so according to the labeling on the alt and regulator it's now hooked up as S to S which is light green/red. Yellow A is hooked to the hot in run wire from the ignition harness. Big black alt wire is going to starter solenoid. Sound right?
Metered while running, neither F or S have voltage should they? How does the alt get the signal to charge, from which wire and is it 12v or what? I did the old pull the battery cables off while running and it died. What are some other trouble shooting things I can do to present the problem? I spun it around the block a few times and the voltage when I got back was about 1v lower then when I started.
I've always done that with regular cars but needless to say I don't favor it. Got the issue worked out though it was nothing but wiring. Had the Stator wire hooked to the Stator at the Alternator but in fact it was supposed to be hooked to 12v while in run. Problem solved in about 2 minutes and it's charging away. Next is the battery cables because it's running a little dim until I step on the gas and everything brightens right up.
