Im wanting to get in the 11's this coming year at above 114 mph. Currently running 12.5 ish at 106, but with a hurt motor and a bad rear suspension. Im running a 408 with 4v cleveland heads so it isnt as heavy as the monster 460's but its no small block. Hurt the rings last year when water pump seized and lost temper and was blowing oil. Motor made 510/510 but with hurt rings and ive added other goodies along the way so probably a 550/550 NA motor. There are many ways of getting weight off the front end. Fiberglass hood(have it), swap out stock i beams for 80's f100 beams(supposeably 60 to 70 pounds lighter, motor mounts(going with motor plates so no torque is lost in rubber mounts) complete steering system( over a hundred pounds) all inner fenderwells, lighter front rims, aluminum radiator, loose all interior garbage you dont need, So really your looking at a reasonable 300 to 400 pounds off the front, so if you go with the CV front end.......... How much more do you save????????? can it handle wheel stands(future dreams)???? Thanks guys
You can do the Dodge Aspen front end swap too. I'm curious to find out if my Dodge truck front end swap is possible, and if it's lighter. I haven't gotten the truck yet. I got a running, stock '71 Galaxie 351w, can't get anyone to give me $300 for it. Perfect race motor, no money to build it. That would pull off some weight. You could also get a set of rings.....
What fuel system are you running (midship tank, rear tank, fuel cell)?

You are selling a 351w from a 71 Galaxie?
Where are you located?
Dogde pickup up front end swap? What am i gaining there? Im running the rear tank, side tank would make you launch weird with 20 gallons of fuel on one side. 140 gph Holley fuel pump with #8 fuel line and #6 return line. Drilled a hole in the bottom for gravities help going into #10 line feeding the pump. Guys give me some more info on this Crown Vic front end. If its all aluminum, it could give me some big weight savings plus better ride quality and will lower it some. I've heard the CV front ends are basically bolt on? This true? Are they manual racks or power racks? Thanks
Wow, thats an awesome thread on the vic front end! I used a TCI Coil Over front end with rack & pinion in my 56' F100. Lightweight and easily adjustable.
