Question buying a used edge

I looking for a little advice, I have found a used edge evolution which is for my year and model, the question i have is there any precautions i need to be concerned about with the stored vehicle information it will have from the previous truck. for example if its a xlt and mine is an fx4. Is there a way to reset it like new or am i just over thinking the whole thing.
any help would be great

The only way the Edge will do you any good is if it is returned to stock. This will return all information to as new. If this not doen you will not be able to do anything with it, and it will have to be unlocked. Edge charges about 100 bucks for this service. Your best bet if you can is to hook it up before paying, if not make sure to ask PO if they returned truck to stock before removing.
I had a first gen Evo in my 98 F150, which I returned to stock, before trading. I then usd it on my 2001 Expd, with no issues. It is curently on its way to edge for trade in on th latest version.

How much are they charging you to upgrade? I have one of the first Evolutions that came out. I have had no problems in over 4 years!

It cost me 150.00. The only reason I upgraded, was the dealer reflashed my truck and the EEF2000 would not recognize the Hex. They stated they no longer supported the EEF2000, but could try to reflash for 99.00. The current Edge Evo, comes with a USB, to upgrade via the internet for new Hex codes.
The first gen made a huge improvement on my 98 F150 4.6 4x4. I honestly couldn't tell much difference on my 01 Expd 5.4 4x4, other than transmission, with the old Edge, even on 93 performance. With the new Edge in 87 tow, I can feel a difference, and see about 10 percent increase in mileage. The gages are really cool as well. I have mine set to show CHT, instaneous mpg, intake air temp, and load.
They offered the newest Evo, for 150.00, or the CTS for 400.00. All I did was call tech support, and they set everything up.

Just to clarify this is what I am calling the first generation the eef2000

Thanks for the info. I have all the gauges, just not the newest version. I can definitely tell a difference between stock and lvl 2, which is where I run it. I will most likely send mine to Power Hungry Performance and get upgraded to a Gryphon and then get Bill to write me some custom tunes. I would end up with a completely customizable programmer for less money than your updated Evo. He could have also fixed your hex code issue. He was one of the original developers of the Evo. I also have the cable to do my updates. The one you had was basically just a flash tuner. Once programmed, you put it in the glove compartment and called it good.

The 15051 is the currrent Edge for your truck. The only thing newer is the CS or CST. I will probably send mine in eventually. It only runs 25 to convert then 60 per tune. Yeah the original I had was a simple flash tuner.
