My 95 f150 saved my life...

monsterbaby the reason i said 55 was based on there being no tire marks on the road from her slamming on the brakes and the damage done to her vehicle. Her vehicle was totaled and had to be towed off, both of her front tires popped from the impact. Wether she was going 55 or not she was not paying attention at all.
Oh I didn't mean to lesson what you went through I just know what damage looks like from a 55mph hit is all and the feeling of being jarred around is tremendous even at lower speeds. I have a friend that was involved in a 25mph collison 25 years ago (tbone type collison in the passengers door) and he has neck and neurological problems to this day from the jarring he took.
I also know the old trucks were a lot tougher then todays vehicles. but I have been in and helped pick up 45+mph collisons.
Granted this is a newer vehicle and a bigger vehicle hit it then you got hit by but the amount of damage difference should give you an idea
I agree with Scndsin, Keep your truck even though I can about bet the insurance company is going to try and total it. First try and get them to fix it, but if not get best offer you can then tell them you want ot keep the truck. If they give a huge salvage amount make them show you the written offer for that amount immediately (it's an old trick to try and get more out of you to claim 25-50% salvage value)
Edit ot add: The lack of skid marks is actually not unusual with modern antilock brake systems they really don't lock up like they used to and thus don't leave skid marks in a lot of cases. She could have been all over the brakes just before hitting you.

Yeah i was surprised the damage wasnt that bad. Her car was in pretty bad shape i beleive it is totaled because here front end was mostly gone along with her front drivers side quarter panel. Like i said she hit me hard enough for both of her front tires to pop. It was night time around 8pm, i beleive she was texting and didnt see it till she looked up, hence the reason she was off the road when she hit me. I found out how much the damage was and its around 2700 dollars so i dont think they will total it. For 6000 dollars i can get the whole truck repainted along with my rust spots taking care of so i think ill just pay the other half and get it completly redone. My injuries and time is also worth quit a bit of money so ill let you guys know the plans when i hear from her insurance and what they want to do but of course this will be over time so ill probably start a new thread when the truck starts getting redone.

A few more things i forgot to add from the accident, my front diffrential seal is now leaking and my rear bumper on the ride side is sitting about a half of a inch or inch lower then the left, not sure how it happened because she hit me in the middle/front of the truck but it was even before the accident. Hopefully no more issues come up

You have the RIGHT to keep your vehicle in an accident. Insurance companies give you scrap value for a 'totaled' vehicle. They determine the cost of fixing it to 'is it worth it?'. Then the question is "they want to take my vehicle but it means a lot to me so im not going to let them take it" and that is completely your choice.

yep they are going to be giving you money for it anyway, find as much damage as you can if there is any possilbe way it relates to the wreck, but they are gonna try and write it off, ill bet on it...make sure they check the frame, even if it was like that before the accident...they dont know that
when they totalled my 95 they quoted damage at $2900 (which is retardedly high) and estimated the salvage value was $2200? i think, i wound up getting $1900 after i "bought it back"...but i kept it and did all the repairs from the wreck for less than $300...then i had to fix a lot more stuff to get through the write off vehicle inspection

Just today I seen a 45mph t-bone into a mids 90's F250, that truck was u shaped! The f250 slid through a intersection on wet roads and and got hit by a toyota car just in front of me. Needless to say the people in the car got the worse end of the deal, driver got punched by the bag as he didn't have the seat belt on, passanger kissed the windshield...... The F250 driver was shooken up and had to exit from the pass side of the truck. Just thinking it could of been me getting hit, a miss of only 20'!
And yep, cell phone texting was cause of the the problem

That is insurance fraud!!! I really dont think time in jail is worth a grand or two,
As for you being able to KEEP your truck. It is all in how you policy is written. It may have a clause stating that the reserve the right to sell the truck or not.
And for the damage in the pic, no way was that a 50mph crash. I would say less than 25.
Hell. this was at 25mph.LOL and bent the frame 4-5 inches

The frame was fine but like you said monsterbaby i defiantly need to get a estimate for putting it on a frame machine just to make sure. I plan on keeping the truck, but if worse comes to worse ill take the money and go buy another one. But diesal brad you have to remember i got hit sideways so most of her car went under the truck then hit it hence the reason the damage isnt as bad as i thought, and her car was alittle newer ford car. Even with her car if she would have directly hit me in the front like in your photo there would be alot more damage. Was she going 55? dunno this was based off of her damage and both front wheels popping. It was also based off her being already off the road when she hit him meaning if she already isnt paying attention i doubt she hit the brakes. Ethier way this girl defiantly needs to lose her license

Just take it easy. Don't try to exercise your neck or back. When it comes to sensitive areas like that, rest (and lots of painkillers) really are the answer.
