I'm planning to change my fuel filters and the dealership wants $75.00 for the pair. Isn't this a little high? Is their anywhere else to get Motorcraft filters for less.
dieselfiltersonline.com has Racor for $25.06 per set.
Actually they are 34.89, when purchasing them from Dieselfiltersonline you save 25.06. I just buy them from the International Dealer, I couldnt believe how cheap the parts where from the ford dealership. Not only the fuel filters, but other parts as well.
I found the same thing... often Ford had the right part (not 5 or 6 others listed with no clue as to which actually fits until you see it, which is what often happens at Carquest and others), and the prices were not that bad.
There are clear exceptions. I got aftermarket lock cylinders for 25% or less of Ford's cost per cylinder.
But on a lot of things --- even the EGR valve($200 and change)... their price is not totally out of line.

Actually, that is not a bad price.
When the 6.0L came out, Ford dealers were/are getting this much just for the filter kit and then charging labor on top of that!!
This is why many of us buy from our local Int'l truck dealer or on-line and do it ourselves.
The job can be messy and cold if you live in a cold weather area and your in need of a filter change... but $75.00 for the filters and labor would be about right if you cut back on a case or two of beer for week.
Good luck, but the filters are much cheaper on-line from reputable companies that sell Racor/OEM/Motorcraft filters.
Thanks for the help guys. The price Ford wanted was for the parts only no labor. Its nice to save money in these times.
Parts only... then buy them on-line (look for Racor who is the OEM supplier to Ford or Motorcraft). There is a difference and not worth the worry and problems to use "will-fit" filters.
Amazing how I can buy 1 or 2 filter kits from my local Int'l truck dealer for only $35.00/kit and Ford dealer wants $75.00 (I assume there is a lwoer price if you ask or convince them you are a good customer)... but no wonder dealerships have a hard time making money... they are not competitive enough (at times at least... or on these parts at least.
By the way, my local dealer will match a lower price on the same Ford Motorcraft parts if found on-line... so print off what you find and maybe your's will to???? Nothing to loose and everything to gain - just ask for the Manager as the counter person does not have the authority.

Good luck,
My dealer will price match any local dealer but will not do anything for an internet price. "Been there done that"
I went to there site and noticed that they carry a third fuel filter by "Prime Guard". it states that this filter meets OEM standards and cost $17.89, big difference in price. Gas anyone used this filter and if not why?

If you can afford a Ford Super Duty, you can afford the proper filters!!!
You want either Motorcraft, International or Racor.
Racor is the OEM supplier to Ford and also sells them under their own name and to Int'l truck company.
Don't be cheap.... you run the risk of being sorry... and that's an expensive risk (at least with the 6.0L motor). Other motors are more forgiving, the 6.0L is not...
