Weird Stuff - Wiring and such...
1) Alternator was replaced within the last year, but at start up gauge shows low voltage. It does go up with RPM. Seems like it should always show normal.
2) Gooseneck trailer has all lights except running lights. Brakes, turn, flashers all good - no running (tail) lights. I have no voltage at truck connection when I test. Truck running lights work ok.
3) When I tap the brakes with my foot on accelerator, truck tranny does something weird, almost like convertor is locking up - I don't really know how to describe it.
4) Anyone else have trouble with rear spring hanger bracket rusting out? I just had to replace one that actually broke. 77' gmc is original, and shows no sign of wearing out!
Anyway, if ya'll got some time, I appreciate any help. Have a great weekend!
2 Check the under hood fuses, ther is one for the running lights there.
3 I'm not an auto tranny guy so no help there.
4 If you live where they salt the roads in winter that is a common problem I'v read.
2. the wires for the gooseneck are probably pigtailed into the main truck harness near the rear bumper, check the connections there.
3. the weird tranny thing you are feeling is exactly what you think it is, the torque converter clutch disenaging. this is normal
4. yes it is a flaw, they all rot out. the factory hangers are solid, the new replacements have a drain hole in them
