Exclamation Starting problems

Hey all.. New to the site and first time ever owning a diesel.. My truck is a 1999 ford f250 7.3 diesel with 53,000 miles on it. I am the second owner for about 3 months. My trucks starts great in the morning but after running for a while and make a couple stops, my truck takes 2-3 times to start and it is starting to happen more and more... Can you all please HELP??? Starting problems

The batteries are brand new, replaced the fuel filter, and I am on my way to replace the starter relay and glow plug relay today because I am leaving on tuesday for thanksgiving. Thanks

From the sounds of it, it wouldn't be the starter relay or (GPR) glow plug relay. More likely the culprit is either your ICP (Injection Control Pressure) sensor or IPR (Injection Pressure Regulator).

The ICP would more likely have to do with idling, but if you unclip the harness from it and pull it out (with the truck turned off!) and then drive around and the problem disappears, you've found it. If no change, then plug it back in.

IPR; If they get dirt/contaminated oil etc. in them, they can act funky. Do this:

1. Take the plug out of the HPOP reservoir and either A) using a turkey baster with a small tube (or similar) suck out the oil from the reservoir, or if you want to be messy, go with B) and just stuff a bunch of towels, etc. down in the valley between the cylinder heads.

2. Unplug the wiring from the IPR sensor portion, remove the "tin nut" and slide the sensor off the IPR body.

3. DO NOT WIPE THE IPR BODY WITH ANY TOWELS WHATSOEVER!!!!

4. Remove the IPR *C A R E F U L L Y*. I used a Craftsman 1-1/8" deep socket. It barely fits, but it does.

5. AGAIN; DO NOT WIPE THE IPR WITH ANY TOWELS WHATSOEVER!!!!

6. Spray thoroughly with brake cleaner, working the plunger in the end as you do. Let it air dry for a minute or two.

7. Remove towels soaked in oil from the engine valley. Discard or display as trophies; your choice.

8. Reassemble. Make sure you get the "tin nut" tight!!

9. Remove plug from HPOP reservoir and fill with 1/2 quart of fresh oil.

10. Test drive and tell us what you get.

Here are 2 pics of essentially the same things to help you understand where things are:
