4wd Conversion Question

I just acquired an '89 F250 4wd, likely an HD, with 351W auto. I would like to make my '88 F350 dually (also 351W auto) a 4wd since it is a one ton chassis and it has a flatbed. Can I simply swap over the front axle, tranny, and transfer onto the F350? What sort of modifications need to be made with existing parts?
I do not plan on "abusing" this truck but only want additional traction in wet or slippery street and very mild off-road conditions. The other option is to cut the flat bed from the F350 and figure out how to mount it on the F250. Then I have to start to fix all of the trucks's unknown issues. The truck runs, but I know the dually's mechanically sound.
