hello, i was looking at my buddys 05 stx 4.6 2wd supercab tonight. he said it started running rought like it was starving for gas, so he went to the gas station, shut it off, filled it with 93 octane, and it wouldnt start back up.
i plugged two programmers in it to read any dtc's (he said the check engine light came on when he was going to the gas station) and one programmer said "moniter check not complete" and the other programmer said "operator error, can not read codes"
i held the gas to the floor and tried to start it, and it made a horrible rattling sound like the fan was just blistering the shroud....i didnt run it for more than 2 seconds when i heard that...and it barely would fire
could a bad pcm be the cause? it wont even let me pull any codes so im kinda stumped? could the horrible noise be the pcm throwing timing off?
First check the fuse for the OBDII port. Fuse 41 (20A) bottom right center of fuse block (Passenger compartment fuse panel / power distribution box
The fuse panel is located under the right-hand side of the instrument
panel.)
