460 engine R & R question

460 engine R & R question

Pulled my old 460 out with the torque converter and flywheel still attached to engine. Done installing all the necessary stuff on new engine. When I reinstall new engine I will need to pull off the torgue converter and install it in the trans. Is this correct? Does the torque converter thread onto the trans shaft or something similar? Does it actually lock on to the shaft. What is the process. I've been told if it's not correctly installed you can screw the trans pump and will have to have trans rebuilt???? It's been a while since I pulled or replace an engine so my memory on the process is a little vague.

No, but it has two tabs or flats that must go into the pump. Stick it on the transmission and turn it while pushing in and when lined up it will slip on in. Make sure it does not come out while installing the transmission or engine.

No, it slips into the pump flats and can come back out very easy.
