With the problems of this forum I couldnt put this question here till today. I put it in other forum with few answers, so here I am.
Recently I had to change the high pressure hose and had to fill the reservoir with new fluid, BUT I couldnt get the clasicc ATF and has to buy a specific Steering fluid from GM, any issues with that?, should I change it with the transmission fluid?
I know with the older ford and chevy vehicles I used to use ATF for the power steering fluid. I do not know if it can be used with these trucks though. I bought power steering fluid for mine when I changed the hose.
I too bought power steering fluid for mine rather than ATF when my high pressure hose blew out. how did yours blow??? did it blow the whole fitting apart at the power steering pump? thats what mine did and my dad said his blew apart the same exact way

Thank you amigos. It is suppossed that both of your trucks has been working find with the PSF, OK? for how long have you been using it in your steering system?.
In reallity it doesnt blown, just had a leak in that fitting, and I modified it with different adapters and seal there.
I have been searching about PSF vs. ATF and most people says that its OK, nevertheless that they are different or have some differences (I couldnt find a comparative chart), both are hydraulic oils and had been used for years for the steering pump, bad thing is if you use a different oil like 15W 40 for instance and the worst problem is that the seals of the system is not prepared for that kind of oil and soon or later it will develop some leaks. And other conclusion is that NEVER use PSF in the transmission.
it is all I run (transmission fluid) I don't think in 33 years of mechanicing I have ever bought power steering fluid.
the D/M atf is the Dextron / Mercron automatic transmission fluid.

Maybe that has already arrive to my country after that many years . LOL.

Yeap for sure, thanks a lot. Since when are you using it?
I have always had the Power Steering Fluid in there I believe. I changed the hose in 2006. Before that, I never did anything to the Power Steering. I bought the truck in 2002 with 70,000 miles on it.
