Looking to replace both original 2004 Motorcraft BXT65 / 750's in the next couple of weeks, before the cold reallys sets in. Wondering what you guys have found to be the best battery for the dollar. Style, brand, store? One thing I do want to do is upgrade to the 850cca.
Thanks,
if your truck has power windows and locks or maybe a sound system then id install some 850.i like the optima gell cells.kinda pricey but a good battery.i also think the motorcraft batterys are a good battery as well.
I went with the Die-Hard Gold (whatever they call their best batteries) from Sears. They had a pretty good discount when I used my Sears card and I got them both-after exchange-for just over $200. So far, so good...

Generally, speaking, the higher CCA rating means it is made of spongier lead, and will have much shorter life.
The Motorcrafts are very good batteries, don't be fooled by the 750CCA rating. As stated, they are longer lasting, more durable batteries. They have $20 off coupons on them occasionally too. I would go with either those, or the Interstate MTP-65, which is what I got. No need to spend the money on Optimas.

100% agree. Totally overpriced for what you get when dealing,at least, with a diesel.
I have a friend who is an Optima dealer and when I had to replace my batteries he suggested the best ones from Advance Auto so that's what I got and have been happy so far...
I have run Optima for over 14 years, and when I did have a problem, I always got them replaced for free. I just put two new Optima Yellow Tops in my truck.

Still running on my original batteries. Should I be worried. It does not get that cold here in the Mudlamette Valley, just wet and rainy.
I would recommend testing them occasionally to make sure that the voltages check out. A good PM practice is charging them once a year. Mark (bismic) did a write-up on this not too long ago. I follow his advice.
