newb here.........
just ran across this site looking up parts.
i am a newbie. just bought a '55 f-100 at an auction last wknd for my 12 year old son. this obviously is meant to be a long term project for him and i as an alternative to video games and other junk like that. i am a bodyman/painter by trade. i've done a bunch of cars over the years, but this is my first effy to work on. my dad got me started(body/painter also) when i was in jr. high with a '37 ford p/u. still have it. anyways, my son is terribly excited about "his" new truck. we drove it home from the auction with my wife following. him, me, and the dog. we started out with brakes but as we made it to our corner, the pedal went to the floor and i started puckering if ya know what i mean. it's a pretty solid ole truck for the most part. the driver lower door hinge was sagging and the door didn't stay closed real well. i pulled the hinge out yesterday to find that the pin had seized and then twisted off on both ends. drilled out the pin and rebuilt the hinge. it open and closes great now. for the moment we have rebuilt the master cyl. and changed a brake line. 239 i believe. 3 on the tree. it has tail lites but the h/l dont work. havent run it down yet. the glass is all in it but it all needs replaced. it's still 6 volt. doesnt like to start on six to good, but if you hit it with 12v from a jump box it fires instantly. seems to run decent. frt end is a lil loose. the huge steering wheel makes us laugh every time we grab it. original color was code V which i believe to be goldenrod yellow. it is yellow now but has had numerous paint jobs. he wants it grabber blue he says. cab corners have very little rust. left cowl side is full of filler and bubbled up from rust. fenders are all very workable. someone has made a set of running boards out of 3/16 steel diamond plate. did a great job BUT will have to go. it has a cool, old windshield visor that is in real good shape. got lots of ideas for it. i hope he keeps an interest in it. otherwise it's MY truck. lol. just getting started reading the forum here and it's great. i am sure i'll have ? that can be answered here. anything to cut down on back trackin'. thanx for the space.

Welcome Steven,
lots of good tech stuff at the top of the forum in the stickys...and check the articles section, although it's top heavy with late model stuff (everyone needs 150 articles on the latest from ford)
We pride ourselves on being friendly, helpful and family oriented... so jump right in and make yourselves at home...
enjoy
