Glow Plugs???????

Do they wear out? (if so how do you know?)

What do out of spec ohm readings mean and how does it affect performance?

Yes, they can wear out. The higher the resistance, the less current flows through them, and the less heat they produce. Obviously, the less heat, the longer it takes to warm up the combustion chamber. Mine all ohmed out below 1 ohm.

What readings are you getting at the 9 pin plug? If the plug comes loose under the valve cover you can get opens on the glow plugs/injectors. and may cause performance issues.

well....

I just rolled over to 200K on the spedo.

I am guessing everything is original and stock. I would also bet that the valve covers have never been off. So there is a good chance that the harness could be loose.

What kind of performance issues are we talking about?

Usually a loose UVCH causes an intermittent (and very noticeable) miss because the injectors are controlled through the same connector.

HMMMMM....

Well I dont think I have any miss in the engine. And I have no problems with cold starts either.

I am trying to pinpoint my loss of power.

I will need to get some guages and take some readings... the only logical place to start.

Wait, so your truck is losing power? In what way under what conditions? The GP system is only for starting and immediately following start-up. A loss of power isn't a symptom of a faulty GP system.
