What gears do I have??
I have a 1985 Bronco II 4X4, 2.8 V6 with a 5 speed stick and 235 75/ R15 tires. I'm trying to find out what gears ratio I have. The tag says they are 3.45 but I don't think it's right. The engine revs up too quick for those gears. Don't have a tach but the engine is really turning at 55mph in 5th gear, top speed is 60. When I get to 25mph I'm already in 3rd. Does anyone know if there is a way to remove the diff. cover and count the teeth on the ring and pinion to verify which gears I have? Thanks for your help.

that sounds like someone swapped out the gears at some time. You could pull the cover and count teeth, or jack up the rear and spin a tire 1 rev and count the number of rotations of the driveshaft.
