Have any of you guys ever de-badged your expedition. It looks like there is some heavy duty glue there, unlike audis and benz which are very easy taking off, but if any of you have done it please tell me. Thanks
Try a hair dryer. This will soften the glue and after a couple of min. they should come right off. Ford uses 3M adhesive tape to hold the emblems in place,it's the stickiest 2 sided tape I have ever seen. When you have them off use a little Ronsonal lighter fluid to remove the remaining residue then follow up with a good quality wax. Hope this helps!
Thanks, I did that but I did not know that there would be 2 holes in the back, Im kind of bummed on that. Any recomendations what i should do with these holes?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Sep-02 AT 11:03 PM (EST)]You could buy new badges and remove the black paint with acetone or lacquer thinner. This would leave a badge that is virtually all-chrome.
Bring it to a local body shop and have them weld the holes closed. then refinish the panel. Thats thte only way I know of to fill holes in sheet metal. You could take the cheaper route...that is instead of wwelding the holes closed, you could use bondo.....but I wouldn't recomend it, it will eventually fall out and leave you with an even bigger mess than before! And you would still have to refinish the panel. SORRY!
