Finally Home!

Thought I would throw up some pics of my new(to me) Dentside. Happy to have her home, of course I paid more than she's worth, but I thought it would be a great foundation. Titled as a 1977 F150, but I'm not exactly certain what all lies underneath. Dana 60 out back, NP205, Dana 44 up front, and 7.5 liters of blue oval horsepower. Limped her home, started by fixing the fuel pump, it had a new holley mechanical bypassed for a mr. gasket electric for a 4/6 cylinder (needless to say it didn't run very well), as I was trying to figure out what the genius that I bought it from was trying to accomplish, I realized he had hooked up the new mechanical pump backwards. Fixed the oil leak that was covering everything (oil pressure gauge fitting), serviced both diffs. Definitely surprised when I cracked the front one, and there was no oil in it , straightened out the cover and its now leak free. Could not get the drain plug out of the NP205, but finally got the fill plug out so I could top it off, with just over 2 additional quarts of fluid!!!!! Anyway before this gets to long, I better cut it off.

Thanks for asking, the po had the truck 4/5 years and used it primarily to haul firewood and abuse. He called it his "Zip Code Truck" because he was affraid to leave his zip code in it. I believe the truck had a pretty serious overhaul, including the 460 install and rust free body (except floorpans) about 10 years ago. That being said, my first order of business is just getting her into reliable running condition. Personally I wanted a 4x4 to get around in the winter, and I work at a Ford dealership and would like to have a great looking old Dentside sitting outside of the show room all the time, instead of my 2wd Dodge. Once I get the reliability side of things nailed down, which is going ok at this point, I plan on putting in new floor pans, and finishing out the interior. Hopefully that will be followed in the not to distant future by a slick paint job, converting it to a Ranger, and some new tires/wheels, planning on running some 36x15.50x20's on it. Want I nice looking bigger truck that is still friendly to drive down the road in, and turns plenty of heads doing it. Also scored a new tailgate this weekend free of charge!!

Oh, that been said before! Anyhow, that is what I just did with mine, is get all the mechanical stuff ironed out. I like the tail gate, I want to get my hands on some of that fancy trim you got on there. All I got is the Ford portion, but in due time, in due time!!

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

PS: You right, that will look much better than that Dodge setting outside the dealership.

Haven't decided on a color yet, most likely will use a current production Ford color. My current favorite is a 2010 car color called Dark Atlantis Green Metallic, almost a black color, beautiful green in the sun though. However, my wife has a strong distaste for green, so I don't know if I'll win that battle or not. I definitely have plenty of time to think about it though.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll win that battle, it is my truck after all!!!

And yes, has anyone installed the lighted LMC bumpers? I definitely like the look, in the mean time, I'm going to install a stock bumper because I have no need for a giant off road bumper, because I prefer the look & I'm just simply not going to be that abusive to the truck! Bought it to be a daily driver, not an off road beater.
