So i have a 98 f150 and i found out that my speedometer is off 5 miles an hour at 70. does anyone know can this just be fixed by programming or does it need a new gear in the transfer case.
PS it has the old mechanical odometer.
i have had it unhooked several times..... no difference, but i did have it in to the ford garage in my town and they told me it was either programming or the gear in the differential and i would rather not spend the money to have the back end tore apart if its programming i will have it reprogrammed otherwise i will live with it.
i believe the older 97-98 trucks are mechanical and have a gear. The newer trucks are digital and can be programmed. If your dealer dont know what you got, i would not have them working on it.
i believe they are 17s so i will have to check its w.e was on it when i got it and sadly enough i dont trust either ford delership within sixty miles of me anymore they have screwed us out of two motors one in an 08 f150 and one in mine mine was out when i bought it....
