I let mine lapse. SIRIUS then sent a letter offering it for $5 a month for 6 months. I took it.
That's my plan (as it seems to have worked for others). I don't even want the music (I think the sound quality sucks), just the Travel Link, but apparently you can't get TL without 'a' music plan.
I originally had XM Radio at home and really loved it. But when they were merged with Sirius I have not been as happy with the service. The only reason I still have the subscription is that airwave radio quality is rapidly deteriorating to the point that I never have the radio on in the truck anymore without my XM receiver with me. You can't even find a ballgame on the radio anymore. But I would never purchase Sirius as an option on any vehicle. You're stuck with having it just in that vehicle. At least with the Rodee or comparable receivers, you can use it in different vehicles as well as home. And even with buying the gear for that, it's still cheaper than the car manufacturers charge for it. I just need to get the antenna from Ford for the satelite radio so that I can have that permanently installed.
Sorry for reviving this long dead and gone post, but my Sirius subscription is about up and they want like 120 bucks for another year. I paid 77 last year. I called and told them that I was not paying 120+ for radio service, and if they could not do any better, then they can just cancel my subscription. The Indian lady on the line said ok, typed something in and said thank you, goodbye. My subscription runs out in a couple weeks. I am hoping they will offer me another deal. What is everyone paying for their renewals? Are there currently any promotional deals I should know about? Thanks.
Call and tell them you want to cancel. They will forward you to the cancellation department who has extra stroke to get things done. I renewed for $71 for a year (half price).
Yep, just tell them you can't afford it. They can give it to you half price. They word it as you pay for 6 months and get 6 months free. I just redid mine last month.
Satellite radio is like cable; always negotiable. I refuse to pay for it now, but I did find it nice a long time ago when I was making long trips and it was $24/yr.
I enjoy the Sirius radio. Most of you are complaining about the music and offerings, however, I feel the selection is very good. As far as Sirius going out of business, I bought 1000 shares at .62, and now that they took over XM the stock is at or near $2.00. With all the new vehicles coming thru with factory-installed Sirius, the stock will only go up.
I renewed in January for $77.00 for the year. I played hard to get and let the plan expire and I went without it for over a month before they finally caved in.
And then I refused to give them a CC / debit card number and I made them agree to a one year subscription by check in the mail.
I use it so little, I don't know if it's worth keeping but I do enjoy all my favorite music channels from time to time.
If I traveled more frequently I wouldn't b e without it.
