You are not supposed to use weld or use heat on these frames, it greatly weakens them. You should replace the front frame horns, they are about $1100 from Ford.

$1880 for the the frame stub with cross member. That's the only way it comes and I can't find one in the junk yard. Ford says you can heat frames but only to a dull red glow.

This thread is just like to air cooled VW sites I go to. I can handle a '72 Karmann Ghia but jeez, I don't have tools big enough to mess with these trucks. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your build thread. Very cool.

The frames are HEAVY DUTY. It took a lot of pulling to get them back in place.

Yep, door edge is still tweaked, but I straightened the bumper over winter break. It was only down for a couple weeks this summer while I was waiting to get the insurance figured out and until the frame was straightened.

Were you able to reasonably settle with the insurance company? As I recall, that was the outstanding "X-factor" in the original thread...

Yeah, I think they finally realized how stubborn I am and stopped trying to short me. Came out pretty well, especially considering I straightened the bumper instead of buying new, so that saved $1600 of the settlement money.

More progress. Got the frame all welded up. Lower core support all welded up. Fitted the fenders and hood with a little tweaking. Here are some pics.

Hey neighbor, it's looking good so far.

In Wisconsin, do they issue a salvage title? If so, how does one convert a salvage title back to a normal title?

In Oregon you take it to DMV, they do a VIN inspection and issue a "Reconstructed Salvage" title.
