Does anyone have actual experience with Ziebart rust proofing? I'm really not looking for opinions based on "friend of a friend" experiences.
I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth it. My brother recently purchased a mint '92 crew cab and I want to catch the rust before it starts dissolving.
I've researched the obvious choices of rust inhibitors and enamel paints. I just don't have the time to clean the undercarriage properly and apply the paint.

Yes you could say I have experience, I've been having it done to my vehicles since 1979. I keep my vehicles a long time, and it's worked well for me. About the only vehicles I've had rust issues were the ones I didn't have Ziebarted, and that included a truck that was previously rustproofed elsewhere.
In fact I bought a 07 the end of June, just had it rustproofed in Sept. I have a 97 I bought in 99. Only rust spot on it is where a shop blew a hole in the paint on the box and I'm working on fixing the paint, otherwise it's sound metal wise. I think the current count is 7 or 8 vehicles I've had Ziebarted, and IMHO it's required for anything that lives in the rustbelt with all the snow and salt we get.
If I didn't believe in it I wouldn't have just had it done. Hope that helps
I'm currently researching reviews on some semi-local shops that ziebart and I have to admit that NONE of them seem to be very positive. Of the two within 3 hours of me they all have pretty crummy reviews. Not very encouraging at all.
If you haven't tried Fluid Film for rustproofing and you live in the US, just PM me your contact info and I'll ship out a sample can for free. That's how confident we are that Fluid Film will solve your rust problems.

Safe to assume then you think much more highly of Ziebart compared to Fords undercoating?
Regarding which I feel is better, I'd have to say Ziebart IMHO. A Ford and a Mercury weren't Ziebarted in the last 25 years, both rusted through. Bought a new Dodge Power Wagon that had a 'Rusty Jones' rustproofing job done to it at the dealer, it rusted through. 2 GM's and 4 Fords Ziebarted, all were good with one exception: a fender that was run into and repaired wasn't ReZiebarted like it was supposed to have been and rust showed about 12 years after the accident while the rest of the car has no rust. There were more vehicles but I think this is enough to show why I believe so highly in good rustproofing.
I firmly believe in Ziebart, anything else may help but nothing beats Ziebart IMHO.
I have a 15-year-old minivan whose underside is terminally rusted. Well, all except the portions of the body that were painted at the factory, which still look almost new. I'm guessing it isn't the paint, per se, that matters, but the ability to resist chipping from rocks, etc.
