Yes they will flow a lot more air than the stock muffler. I saw a cut open muffler and it is amazing the exhaust ever gets to the other side. That is what made me do the muffler delete until I put a 4" system in.
As far as the dimensions, you just need to cut the muffler out and measure the distance and get a piece of flex exhaust pipe and some band clamps to put in place.
Muffler delete on a stock system or on an aftermarket?
My buddy did it on his stock system and he did see a slight EGT drop 75-90degrees.
On an aftermarket system it simply deepens the tone.

Did the muffler delete on my 4" exhaust a while back. I love it. Slight drone when running at certain RPM's, but not bothersome to me. Definitely deepened the tone and I noticed a more pronounced turbo whistle sound out of the exhaust as well.
Noise was almost unnoticeable when the windows were up, but quite loud when the passenger windows were down and passing by a building or a guard rail.
I did get some drone in the cab when towing heavy but now that I have a 4" system with an Aero Turbine and a flow thru muffler there is no noise in the cab.
Mike, I did mine shortly after getting my truck. First I went down to the local emissions inspector (we have required tests for gas vehicles here in Albuquerque) and had my exempt paperwork done. Then took it to a local muffler shop. Cost me $100, but these guys weld for a living, I just join metal. I like it till I’m able to afford a 4 inch system.
I am curious about doing this to my stock exhaust until I can get around to an upgrade. How much does the noise level increase? I drove a VERY loud Jeep 3/4 ton pickup for many years and I actually enjoy the low volume of my F350. Thoughts?
Mine is stock. 3.5" Sounded sweet.. Ran it like that for some time. I found it a little to loud for me especially pulling.. So i bought the 3.5" pass thru muffler from summit and it is quieter and better for us. So if you do the muffler delete and decide to tone it down a little you can always add the summit muffler after. I do miss the straight pipe though somtimes. I don't have the links here at work bookmarked of the delete pipe and summit muffler or i would post them for yea.
Flex pipe won't work fo rme here in PA, my safety inspection mechanic, who is pretty lenient, has told me that flex pipe is not allowed between the engine and the muffler, but is fine after the muffler.............
But what if you don't have a muffler..........hmmmmmmmm.......
None of the auto parts stores around me sell flex pipe anyway.
