Just wanted to say thanks to Ranch Hand for making a damn tough bumper. I had a doe commit suicide with the front of my truck Wed coming home from work, bent my front license plate. Hit her about 35 mph with no other damage The lower plow frame kept her from going under the front tires.
It's that time of year. One of my wifes friends hit one last night on her way home from visiting her son at college. She ended up stranded with her younger son about two hours from home. Another friend went up to get her, we'll take the trailer up and tow her car home next week unless the insurance totals the car first.
Mark-Yes it did. Actually it came on the truck. I guess thats almost standard equipt on Texas trucks, from what I hear! I was going to put the other one on last weekend( stocker), as the RH doesn't work with the plow. Good thing I'm such a prorastinator
Have any pics of how the bumper looks on your truck?
You can swing by later today and see it up close and personal if you want. I'm sure you might have seen me around, or at least heard my truck, lol. Theres no sneaking up on anybody with those 5" stacks. #209, up in the woods. Watch the turn onto the drive off the blacktop, that first step is a doozy! 8 foot drop into the creek
Battery died in the wifes laptop here. Had to plug it in quick. Going to the new Wegmans this AM but I'll be around this afternoon, or I'm usually home after 4:30 during the week. My retired father in law lives with us , so theres always someone here if you pop in.
Yea I've hit a few with mine. The best I've done is 70mph on the last one I don't even slow down anymore I just aim for the middle of the RH and plow threw them. Sorry bunny huggers haha We have a little bit of a deer problem here in Kansas. I've heard of people going 80 and hitting them and just bending the brace a little. The bumpers are stout that's for sure. Mine has also hit a mailbox when I fell asleep one time it just snapped off a 6" cedar post and wrinkled the vertical beam on the bumper. This thing is the best money I've spent on my truck yet.
Thats the one thing I feel bad about- I was in a hurry to pick up my son and take him to baseball lessons so I just drug her off the side of the road. She was probably alot of hamburger but I would have at least liked to get the backstraps. I called a few of my hunting buddies to see if they could use the meat, but they either didn't answer or were in the woods hunting. I took her in the center, that did help. I wasn't going off the road down into the woods just to try and miss her. Worked out well, this time anyways.
D8, Could you post a pic for me I al a little far away. I was lookin at some sort of bumper for my truck as I now have a plow truck...I had evil thoughts of plowing with my truck...thank god I couldnt afford the plow.LOL
Sarge, I will, I just took some new pics yesterday but i don't know if I can connect the camera to my wifes laptop. Our family room is being renovated and thats where I keep my PC, and its currently in a pile in our dining room. Thats what I use for my camera/pics, I'm more familliar with it. I only use my plow for my driveway, moms, father-in-law and my sisters as we all have long driveways. No commercial plowing.
Also, you guys won't believe this, but I blasted another one this morning on the way to work. About 5:20 am I'm cruising down the road at about 50 mph drinking my coffee, the road dips down into a hollow and comes up the other side. As soon as my headlights start pointing back up the hill, M-F'er! I see brown legs. I jam on the brakes but too late. A spike was standing in the middle of my lane. I smeared him pretty good, and almost got hit by some jerk in a BMW not paying attention when I got out to drag it off the road. He swerved to miss the deer in the middle of the lane and came 5 feet from taking me out. I guess he didn't see my truck with the flashers on or me waving a flashlight. I yelled several obscenities at him, at least that made me feel better.
This one went completely under the truck after I hit it, and I ran over it with both passenger side tires. I just sat there, saying to myself how this can't be happening- 2 deer in a week? I got a buck and a doe already this year and haven't even been in the woods! My 20 oz coffee spilled all over my legs and floor. Man, I still don't believe it. 2 deer and NO damage to the truck. Awesome.
Foul1, yes it is the bumper/grilleguard in one. Its a dang heavy bumper too, I'd say a good 300lbs. Thats why I've been dragging my feet taking it off and putting the stock one back on for the snow plow to fit. http://www.ranchhand.com/prodpix/Sum...dFSF991BL1.gif Mine looks like this kinda
