typical Ford PS whine
Look for a late 80's bronco, and get it through napa if you can, they are the A1 cardon pumps.
I'm in the process of doing this conversion & found this to be true. The only 2 local vendors that handle Cardon (the only valid part # I had, 20-6244) were Advance & O'Reilly. I tried searching NAPA for Cardone & got nothing. Checked price & availability (none in any local stores) and they were quite different. Advance: $49.99 + $30 core, O'Rielly $76 + $45 core.

>The kicker is that when I went to the closest Advance & gave them the # to order, it came up as not a valid part#.
They could not explain why it was valid online, but not in store. So I called up the Advance 800 order line.<o

Any way after some time being put on hold a couple of times from the monkey wrench I had thrown into their well oiled gears. I got the pump ordered. They would not ship to local store, only to me. (free shipping at least, over $75) Of course I can't send the core back since its not exact match.<o

>It came in Fri & I've done a rough check. It mounts nicely to the support bracket. Shaft diameter is the same & protrudes through the face the same distance. Monday I'm going to a local hydraulic shop to see about matching existing hose to pump rather than trying to get the original (bronco?) hose. <o

You can modify your existing bracket; or better is to obtain one from an E-Series with 302/351, circa late 1980s to early 1990s.

The swap only took me a few hours. Most of the work was trying to get the hoses adjusted. You will be very happy with the results, I promise.
All of my Fords have done it and I don't even consider it an issue. Its just a slight noise.
Am I missing something?
Does anyone have a website that has the pumps that bolt up the truck brackets?
the saginaw is supposed to be more efficient and powerful as well I think.By the way Tex... Your truck looks mint. looks like a labor of love
If you use the right fluid, automatic transmission fluid it won't make any noise.
If you, or someone before you, put "power steering" fluid in it it will screech and squeal to no end.
If it has ps fluid in it pull off the pressure line and let it pump all the fluid out, refill it with trans fluid and the noise will be gone.
Provided of course running the wrong type fluid hasn't already done permanent damage to the pump.
Only time I/we ever had to upgrade to the Saginaw pump was when running very large tires.
For stock'ers or even slightly larger tires the standard "ford" pump is quite adequate for the task, and won't make any noise if it has the right fluid in it.
