I need advice for my clutch set up. I just installed a 300 6cyl with a t18 manual trans to replace my sized 6 with 4 speed in my 49 f2. I,m thinking of useing a hydrolick set up . i now most guys have gone with automatic trans but somebody has stuck with manual looking for ant help with linkage setup
There have been some discussions on hydraulically actuated clutches, but I'm not up on it. I can bump this back up for you so it doesn't get lost though.
Which pedal style are you using? Under floor, I would try to modify the F-1 linkage......firewall mounted pedals, I would try to use the linkage that matches the new engine/ trans. I'm not a big fan of hydraulic clutches, but that would solve your linkage problem..........t/m
The early six cylinder ford pickups used a firewall mounted hydraulic clutch master cylinder and a hydraulic slave cylinder that bolted to the outside of the bell housing. It was used in 1958 for sure but I don’t know for what other years. This would be the easiest to install in that to get a manual / petal operated clutch linkage to work well is not so much fun. Newer vehicles and I think aftermarket use some kind on inside the bell housing hydraulic clutch release bearing and slave unit, to new for me, but I would think that the newer 5 speed might use this OEM.
