Running boards length ?

I need a little help. If somebody would measure the distance from the front side of the rear fender to the rear side of the front fender on there 51/52 F-1, it would help me a lot. I instaled a 56 F-100 box on my 51 F-1 and need to instale the 51 rear fenders. I never had a 51 box and the 56 fit . The price was right to, FREE . Now if I new where to instale the 51 rear fenders I would be ready for running boards if they should come up free some place . I need the distance on the shortest side of the running board. thanks JIM

Jim, my running boards are off a '50 F-1 which has the vertical kickup under the cab. the measurement on the vert. part which is under the cab is 62 7/8". The measurement for the curved section which contact the fenders (at the point of the kickup) is 61 1/2". Hopefully someone will respond to verify these measurements. I would think that the '50 and '51 should be the same. Hope this helps. The best way would be to get the running boards first and mount the fenders to match.

Yes, having the running boards would be best. I don't want to pay the big bucks for new ones yet, they will cost more than I have in the whole truck now. I just need to get it roughly put together now to apply for a title before putting a lot of money in it. I may have to see what others come up with and mount the fenders, expecting to maybe having to move them a little when i mount the boards. Thanks for the help.

I don't have running borads, but hopefully this will help better. I took some measurements and pictures of an original 52 bed for fender placement.

Along the lower edge of the bed, from the front of the bed to the fender, it measures 15 5/8".

From the bottom of the fender to the bottom edge of the bed is 6 7/8".

Hooking the tape on the edge of the stake pocket and measuring back 3 feet, and making a mark, measuring up to the break for the 45 degree angle from the top of the fender is 3 3/4".

There is about 1" between the back of the fender and the stake pocket, at the bottom of the stake pocket.

Hope this helps. ;-)

Thanks a lot, Wayne,is it? Those pictures help very much, you went to a lot of trouble and I appreciate it. When you can see some thing , it all comes together. between what you show and what 'gdgerland ' said I believe I can get it together enough to satisfy the 'DMV' to get it retitled. It's not to big of a job in Idaho as of now and hopefully it stays that way.

You're welcome, Jim! Happy to help! Good luck with your DMV. I hope you have an easier time than I'm having getting papers for the Merc. Between DOL and the State Patrol, I'm getting nothing but the run-around, and I think I'm going to have to call my state Senator, or something. It seems like, at least in WA, they make it waaay harder than it needs to be, to do things legal.

My son lives in seattle and thats what he told me to. I gave him a 56 ford car about 15 years ago while he was still in Idaho and had the title in his name when he moved to seattle. He had to get all kinds of time consuming inspections to get Wash. plates on it. It has been easy here but they are wanting to make some changes on registrations to bring in more $$$$$$$ as you can expect. The getting titles seems to be how well the inspector likes you in your area and I don't care for the latest one. I may try in another part of the state just to get a different inspector if I can get by with it.
