Hello,
Went and got a new starter solenoid switch from Napa but it has a
different orientation than the original Motorcraft. (This is on my 1989
Inline 6, 4.9 L, F150). There are 4 studs instead of 3. I found out on the net that I use the small stud labeled "I" for ignition, I think? (The extra
small stud is labeled "S"?).
Also, which of the two big studs is for starter and which is for ground?
I don't want to fry this when I hook it up wrong and be out $22.00!
Any help is appreciated.
Jim
It "grounds" off the chassis. The power usualy goes in on the left side and runs to the starter on the right. One stud is an ignition bypass from the points era the other is the Stater switch terminal.
Thanks Flip!
Yea, wouldn't you know when I was desperate for help this site goes
down! I finally figured it out and even replaced my starter as well ;-)
If I hear that dreaded "click" again any time soon...
Jim
