I would like to take the family to the beach this year but don't know of any camp grounds. I fish while the wife and kid play in the water. If anyone could give me some help it would be great. We like some place that is on the beach and has some stuff for kids to do. Thanks in advance.
Where are you? Padre Island is nice. So is Corpus Christi. Remember, the further down the coast you go, the better the fishing and water quality. If you don't have a preference, go to the Texas Parks and Wildlife website, search for it, and check out their parks listing.
Howdy. I live north of Austin and during this past spring break, a couple of my buddies and me packed it up and headed down to port aransas. We didnt' wanna sleep on the city beaches which were crowded with drunk college fellas and all the bruhaha (however ya say it) so we headed south from the town and it seems that the farther we went from Port aransas the less crowded the beach was. We made camp on the northern most tip of Padre island right before the actual park starts and it didnt cost a thing. Best part is, we had about a quarter mile of beach to ourselves and nobody minded our 4 wheeler tearin it up. Theres purty nice beaches all along the Texas coast but it seems they get better the farther you go south. I seen lots of stars that night i dont normally see back in town. Keep in mind that most of the beaches are primitive campin' only and you just pick a site that looks good and don't forget a tent broom to get the sand out. Lots of places you can drive your Ford down in the water and sit on the tailgate and fish. We took 35 south to San Antone and then the 410 loop around the town and then caught 37 south to Corpus. Then get on 361 and go acorss the causeway and follow the signs to Aransas Pass. Go across the ferry and yer on Mustang Island and Port Aransas. Bout a 3 and a half hour drive goin 80.
