I was raised in Post, but live @ Canyon Lake now. Brother still lives on 61st St. I'll be through there around 7/01 on my way to my high school reunion in Post on 7/02-03. Still feels like home to me, but my wife wouldn't live on the "Panhandle"!
a friend of mine from college lives in post right now and i've been thru there heading to abilene from brownfield several times .. my friends grandparents live there somewhere.. it's not far from here at all..
there ain't nothing wrong with the panhandle ;-) haha
Yeah, she was raised on the Gulf Coast and doesn't like the "sand" & "wind". I guess you just have to be "born to it". I still have some "cotton land" around Post.
haha.. born to it .. you got that right .. first time we heard of a huge sand storm over in iraq after this war started, .. my grandmother said, i bet the west tx boys feel right at home in 80 mph winds and blowing sand since we get nearly that here. as sad as it is, i laughed cuz she's right. people that come over here don't know how we put up with it and it's just that.. you're born here, you get used to it...
Lived in Earth back in the 70's. Then moved 18 miles away from Earth to Muleshoe. Now live in BCS Home of Texas A&M. Miss those sand storms , the brown rain & snow. Miss below freezing with with 50 mph winds & coughing up brown stuff. The only good thing you can still see those tornados 20 miles way with sand in your eyes.
i had a pen pal in earth tx back when i was in the 6th grade. she moved to levelland and i was living in brownfield then i moved to levelland to go to spc and she moved to OK to get married. earth is SMALL! haha i have never had the displeasure to witness a tornado and Lord willing won't have to in this lifetime. for the most part they stay north of us up around canyon and happy and tulia and amarillo... so far i've been lucky... but you're right, it's so flat out here, you cldn't miss something like that coming at you!!
I've only been in Lubbock since November but I've lived in the area (Brownfield) forever and I've been on FTE for a while. Welcome to Lubbock and to FTE .. What ya driving? There are lots of Fords around here but there are just a few of us on here. If we keep this up, maybe we'll be able to have a small Panhandle region meet or something after the whole chapter gets going.
Well my Daily Driver is a 2001 extended cab, with a flowmaster dual exhaust, rhino lined, dual racing stripes, and a decent sound system. My plans for it include either a leveling kit, or a slight lowering kit, new wheels and tires, possibly groud effects....and turn it into a street truck. My second truck is a 1972 Ford Bronco, with a 76 Auto Tranny mounted to a 1970 351C (basically the same engine as a 1970 Mach 1 Mustang). I have had that truck for almost 2 years and have lifted it 7", spent 3000 on and engine rebuild and power gains and now have about 400hp on 87octane. I rewired the entire Bronco, and Relayed the fuel system. Added a roll bar. Replaced all rubber bushings with urethane, rebuilt transfercase, rebuilt powersteering, etc etc etc.
