I made this topic so that you guys can post and list Ford parts or universal-fit parts (batteries, tires, etc.) that you've found to work well on your own truck. I'm not trying to peddle any parts or promote any company, but rather just to bring quality products to other truck owners' attention so they can consider them.
Feel free to share any interesting stories about parts that have performed extraordinarily well, or have held up under unusual circumstances.
My list:
- Optima battery (RedTop)
I've had mine for 4 or 5 years, and it's never let me down. It's lived through a 17V overcharge (headlight switch blew out and the voltage regulator overcompensated), two voltage regulator failures, an alternator failure (it made it about seven miles without charging, and as my truck sat idling in the driveway, it read 10.5V and was still holding up), and it sat for a month hooked up and untouched, and then started my truck afterwards without a problem.
- Futura tires
I bought a set of Futura Dakota H/T 235/75/R15 all-terrain tires from Pep Boys sometime around 2005, and they've held up exceptionally well. Good wear, quiet on the highway, and pretty darn flexible (one of the rears nearly swallowed a curb when the truck was accidentally backed over a parking lot curb, lol). Price on these has gone up a little since I bought them, but they're still tires I highly recommend.
- Shell Rotella T Non-synthetic motor oil
I've used Rotella T 15W40 non-synthetic oil for a few years now, and I haven't seen any sludge. When I drain my oil, it's black, but it flows out easily. As thick as it is, it still allows for decent oil pressure (usually halfway into the Normal range on the factory gauge). I've read that it has plenty of zinc in it, so it's good for older motors. I've also used it in my '96 Jeep Cherokee's 4.0L I6 with great results as well.
sea foam fuel additive : I picked 3-5 mpg after using it thats how dirty my fuel system was , also cleaned out my crank case exceptionally well
x2 on the rotella oil
bfg A/T tires I almost never get stuck in the snow I have been stuck one time
I think you should have titled this thread ... "NON-FoMoCo parts that WORK on Fords" ...

GM Weatherpac Connectors! Use them to replace the crap that is on Ford Ignition systems. They seal tight ... come apart easy ... and if ONE terminal goes bad on you ... you can replace it.
Just remember to set up your spare Spark Box with a set.
GM does have us beat on their connectors. WHen my conectors to the module from the dist fell apart I just hard wired them together though. It will be easier to re-solder the new distributor (if mine goes bad) to the harness than try to find the gm weatherpacks, solder them in and plug the dist in. I have done this with the connectors to the module on other trucks in the past as a cheaper alternative to replacing the engine harness
My truck rides really rough and my aftermarket tach was always rattling loose, so I super glued it down, so far so good. I also super glued my driver side door arm rest down still good as well.
Don't feel bad. Take a look at how long I've been here. I didn't know either. I just now got to see all my reps and the nice things people here have said in the past that I never knew about. There have been countless times I would have rep'd people had I know about it.
I'm gonna start right now with bill 10012.
