Strange noise
I actually have two questions. The first is in regards to a strange noise I believe is coming from the tranny. Once the tranny fluid reaches a temp around 150 degrees it starts making what I can best desribe as a metallic buzzing sound at certain throttle positions and rpms. I initially thought it was some gravel in between the exhaust and heat shield rattling, but later figured out that it only starts after the tranny temp is at or above 150. The tranny works fine and this noise has been present for over three years now. It seems to have gotten a bit louder recently, but generally is just a big nuisance. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this noise.
The other question I have is in regards to the brakes. The truck will w/o warning start pulling extremely hard to the left when braking. It started earlier last year, and was temporarily fixed by putting on new pads. However, after about 8 months it suddenly started again. I replaced the caliper and pads and again it stopped for a few months. It has returned but now it is not consistent like before. Now it will pull very hard for a few miles and then seem fine for awhile. And then w/o any warning it does it again. At highway speeds this is a very dangerous condition because it will literally steer the truck into oncoming traffic. I am planning on checking the master cylinder and the hoses, but would greatly appreciate some direction here from anyone that might have had this problem themselves. As always thanks for any help you can give me.
they are prone to producing a harmonic vibration/noise... some of the BB members here pry on the flange a touch to give it some clearance, thus removing the offending noise...
check ur brake hoses, and u might wanan consider having the entire system flushed...
