I just changed my pads (from OEM to Raybestos PG Plus), and the squeals disappeared. BUT, about 2 days later, my driver's side brake started squealing. It's gotten worse after a week, and now its really annoying me. I lubed the back of the pads, so I'm not sure what else I would need to do. Anyone have any ideas? Perhaps I seated the pads wrong or something? Again, only the drivers-side pad is making noise. The other side with the same pad (and same lube) makes little to zero noise.
Off-topic question: I understand how the outer pad distances itself from the rotor via the caliper clip, but how does the inner pad distance itself from the rotor w/o a caliper clip? Seems like it would be touching the rotor all the time.
It only makes noise under braking; especially low-speed braking. There were some very small grooves when I replaced the pad, but nothing major (I had the rotors turned/resurfaced about 6 weeks ago).
red 96 try taking the pad off and file the square edge off so its like a 45o angle and the low pad clip on the pad try bending it back. as for you caliper question the seal on the piston in the caliper is shaped like wedge so after you release the pedal it pulls the piston back into the caliper. the fulid is then sent back in to the mc (master cylnder) via a replinshing port in the bottom of the mc.
