I need to pull the upper dash face off of my '99 to replace the airbag switch. I pulled a little on it and it gives but don't want to really tug in case there is something more than push/snap fastners. Should I just give it a yank.
If you look very closely at your headlight switch, you'll see a small flat indention at the bottom. Stick a very small flat blade screwdriver in there and pry the headlight switch out. It will start to come out and you can then grab it and pull it out. Unplug the wires and you'll then have a hole you can stick your fingers in to get a better grip on the dash.
It's just a snap in place piece. By starting near the headlight switch and working your way around, it's pretty easy to pop each one loose until the whole thing is off. You will need to use a set of those U shaped clips and remove the radio before you attempt to remove the dash. As Jason said, there are 2 little screws directly above the radio that you may want to loosen, but I never remember those things until after the dash is off. It comes off fine without touching those screws, but some folks are more particular than I am.
Been wanting to get that dash face off for some time now to clean the inside. Where do you get the u shaped wire for pulling the stereo? Will regular wire work?
Great write up on the dash lights Jason.I see glow shift gauges makes some cool reverse glow instrument clusters for the F-150 maybe someday they will make it for the 350's.
I tried to give you rep's but the forum will not let me because you were the last person I gave rep's to... so, you're just going to have to do less for this forum. Just kidding...
