First you need to identify the axles using the Spicer Bill of Material #. The 1976 axle is kind of a rarity since it was only used in 1976 -1977.5 models. No parts from the 1968 axle will interchange except possibly some of the differential/ring & pinion parts!Look for BOM# on tag attached to front cover or stamped into long side axle tube facing forward. Many of the parts have been discontinued but used parts are still available.

First year for front disc brakes on F100/250 4WD's: 1976.

The Ford ID code tag is under one of the bolts that holds the inspection cover on. Do not be surprised if it's missing.

There may be a seven or eight digit Dana ID number (like: 603010-1 or 603010-11) stamped on the axle tube.

Dana 60 front/rear axles: Beginning in 1973, there is a 2" x 1/2" Dana ID tag bolted to the housing just adjacent to the inspection cover.

This tag has either the seven or eight Dana ID number stamped on it.

If you find the Ford ID code and/or the Dana ID number, post what they are, I can decode them...tell you what axle you have.

Looking up front driving axle parts in the 1973/79 Ford truck parts catalog is a major undertaking without an axle ID code.

I wouldn't even attempt it, as there are literally 100's of different "Front Driving Axle" parts lists.

Without the tag, it's a guessing game as to which parts list is the correct one.

With Ford, not only are all the front driving axle parts listed, but so are the brake rotors, seals and most of the suspension parts.

So...without the ID tag code, I cannot tell you what other parts from other years (if any) are the same.

Unfortunately those numbers are "generic" to all D44 axles... You need to find the Spicer BOM# to find specifics about type of differential, axle lengths, wheel end details, etc. Usually it is found within about 12" of center casting on passenger side axle tube facing front. To find steering linkage info you might be better off trying a Moog or McQuay-Norris catalog to see if any parts interchange.

BOM#603762-1 shows 1976.5 F-250 Dana 44, 4.09 ratio, open differential. Disc brake open knuckle with external lockouts. Like I mentioned in a previous post this axle was used in 1976 thru 1977.5 Highboys only. This axle was used up till the last Highboy was produced. All parts in the differential interchange with most D44 low pinion axles. This axle used the "long" outer stub axle specific to these models only! Should not have a problem finding used parts... I still see them in salvage yards up here in MN.
