my 93 f-350 has rear brakes but no front brakes,I took the brake line off at the caliper and could get no brake fluid to come thru when I hit the brake pedal. Also, the brake pedal is hard as a rock with the truck running. You can hear a little air hiss from the brake booster, but it only lasts for a second or two. Does this sound like a bad brake booster or maybe a line blockage? Will a bad brake booster keep fluid from going to the front calipers somehow?(I know fluid doesnot run thru booster,I'm just lost...lol)
ok,so I should be able to pull the line just before it goes into the proportioning valve and hit the brakes and tell if it's the master cylinder, right? thanks HrdDrv I'll give it a shot tomorrow.
Work your way to the end. Pull the rear line from the cylinder, (front brake supply line) got juice? If yes, check lines to the valve. The valve has a piston inside, that when you bleed the system you pull the pin to open the valve, release when done. Should have a rubber seal around the pin, pointing to the front of the truck. They seize up. If you find its bad, replace it and bleed the brakes and carefully roadtest.
you called it right on the nose HrdDrv, bad master cylinder. The hard pedal had me thinking booster, FTE is worth it's weight in gold!! Thanks again HrdDrv!
