$250 for the DIY Stage I kit, $225 for new pre-machined Intensifier Pistons (if you don't have a good machine shop nearby) $35 for a general parts pack with extra screws and such
About $500 total

BTW did you upgrade your tranny?
I have a Ford Reman with 15k miles right now. Coon's Tranny Mod is all I've done to it. Whenever it goes out a BTS trans with triple disc converter is going in.

I also have the Edge Evolution on my truck. It failed on me one time in my driveway. Edge sent me a new programmer and another programmer with the stock tune on it. It is still working but I would agree with the others that you will get more from DP, PHP or TW than you will from EDGE. If you want an EDGE, I will sell mine to you for 250.00 and put the money into a real chip. I must recommend not to buy the Edge though. Just my .02.

I changed to PHP 2 weeks ago, got tired of the programmer. I ran on Extreme most of the time and loved it, but when I wanted tune down (or back up) it was a pain, so I opted for a chip on a switch.

If you wan't an Edge EVO, I will sell you mine, make me an offer...

The edge evo is not plug and play you have to plug it in and tell it what setting you want it to program to then its supposed to copy the settings in your PCM and then erase it and install the new ones. Then whenever you want to change levels it has to erase its new settings and reinstall your old ones then do it again to the new level. Takes about 15 minutes to change each time you want to do it. The problem is when it tries to switch back to putting your stock setting back in it. Alot of times it wont release the new settings it had previously programmed, second part is it never totally cleans it up, so you end up with pieces of the programs fighting each other and causing new problems that are not easily found to be fixed. Usually the end result is either get the dealership to totally reflash your PCM or replace it with an uncontaminated version. The benefits dont even come close to outweighing the costs. For the same money get a good custom chip. Unless you really feel the need to live on the edge,... of a messed up truck. If you feel you need to buy a programmer rather than a real chip, get any other one you want. None of the other ones seem to have the problems that edge do, but none of them including edge can compete with the custom chips. Also Im speaking from experience I had edge repeatedly lock up my PCM and try sending me a replacement, they have terrrible customer service and tried telling me that there progammer wasnt the problem it was Fords computer. Now theoretically if they built it to work with fords computer than they had to have done a pretty crappy job. Also they told me that if I simply changed my PCM to a new one there wouldnt be the problem, which is a liebecause you wouldnt be changing the technology just the piece. Edge is for people who have money to waste. I argued for 2 weeks to finally get them to refund it, they will fight you tooth and nail and blame you for there poor quality.

The kit to upgrade them includes most of the pieces to rebuild tham at the same time with the exception that it doesnt include the plungers and barrels, the nozzles unless your upgrading to stage 2 or better, or the solenoids. The pistons need to be machined or can be added to the kit to simply replace them, that and the plungers and barrels, and solenoids dont need to be replaced unless they're bad, unless you want them with the new coatings used on the SD's. and the nozzles are the same for stage 1's but different on 2's or better unless you need to replace them if their clogged.

Big Red...

Pretty much as Oversize stated "The edge evo is not plug and play you have to plug it in and tell it what setting you want it to program ... Then whenever you want to change levels it has to erase its new settings and reinstall your old ones then do it again to the new level. Takes about 15 minutes to change each time you want to do it."

Beyond the time it takes to program (shutting down your truck, waiting, turning the key on and off, waiting) the older my PCM got, the harder it became to program and I was getting fearful I was going to fry the PCM.

A chip is so much easier, click, click, click... no waiting....

However if you are still interested in the Edge still I will cut you a heck of a deal...

I believe you are making the right decision staying away from the edge evo. Mine is working but the chip is the best answer.
