tranny or no?
I have a '97 f250 powerstroke 7.3L, automatic, 4x4 with about a 170k miles on it. Noticed today as i was driving it that it would slam into gear as i would take off from a stop or when i got on a hill when it downshifted. The overdrive light is flashing and when i put it in reverse it wants to kill the engine and/or finally does load the engine down and makes it die. Changed the tranny filter and fluid on it six months ago and it hasn't been used very much since then. thank you for any ideas anyone might have.
