I need new injectors. I have 3 bad ones (thanks Ziggy for the diagnosis). Anyone running Stage 1's? I'd like some feedback. I'm not looking for BIG power and like the idea of stage 1's using less oil. ....any drawbacks???.... At 323,000mi on the stockers I'm lucky.
I think you'll like stage 1's. I'm assuming you'll go with single shots since you mentioned using less oil? If so, you'll need some custom tuning to run them. Just that alone could make it feel like you have a new truck!
Just a word from the experienced, don't buy the cheapest injectors you can find. I did, and they actually ran worse than my stock injectors, a lot of smoke and no power. I did live tuning with Tony to try to make things right, and he wasn't able to do much. After a year I finally buckled and pulled them and sent them to Ryan Casserly for new nozzles. He had to put a new barrel and plunger in one. They came back as stage 2's with the new/bigger nozzles, and it's like a whole new truck!! The thing pulls hard, really hard when towing and runs fast when I want it to, all with very little, to no smoke. I just need to get back with Tony to retune them.
Stage 1 singles will get you around 350-360 rwhp. Stage 2s are closer to 380-390ish. Don't forget you'll need tuning to run singles in your truck. They definitely use less oil and should get you better mileage. My hybrids get me 22+ mpg on the highway.
I have the Stage 1 Single Shots from Casserly also. I am more than pleased with them. The new found power in my truck is something else, just as Platinum Pete.
I have'nt noticed a increase in MPG yet but with the winter blend and me not being able to keep my foot out of it that speaks for itself.
Just a heads up if you are looking at the Stage 1's, Casserly injectors just dropped in price as of November 1st. Awesome injectors at an even better price. You can also talk to JKidd about his injector issues and experiences.
I'm in a very similar position as OTTO... I'm not looking for massive power gains, some would be nice, sure, but mileage is my main concern. Our stock AD injectors (99.5+) are what, 160cc, right? So what are Stage 1's? And what makes a hybrid... a hybrid? I can keep my foot out of it, that's not a problem for me. I know I'll need new tunes, not a problem. I am on a stock turbo though, and if I don't have to upgrade that, I'd love to keep the $$ in the bank. I do have the Adrenaline HPOP thought, so I've got oil to spare.
Basically, can someone break down (or provide a link to the info) the gory details on injectors and "required" supporting mods?

The simple break down is as follows:
Stock AD - 140cc Split shot stock nozzle
Stage 1 - 160cc Single Shot stock nozzle
Stage 2 - 160cc Single Shot 100% nozzle
Stage 3 "Hybrids" - 235cc Single Shot 100% nozzle
From what I understand you can "tune" hybrid injectors, correct?
How far down can you tune them? Could you use a stock turbo if they were tuned down enough?
You can tune down any single shot with good tuning, not just Hybrids. You could tune them down to be used on a stock turbo, but you also woudn't get getting the benefits of them. Unless you are just waiting for funding to upgrade the turbo.

You would be just using less oil and getting better MPG out of running the singles, and no real power gain, or at least thats how its working inside my head.
Brendan, larger nozzles means they empty faster. The larger the stick, the larger the nozzle needs to be. You can get 200cc/30% nozzle sticks like Mike (Tenn) has. As you know, they netted him 399.99 rwhp, tuned down some. I have 235cc/100%. Probably a little large for my application, but so far, I'm happy as a pig in you-know-what. They are a little smokey, but I still need some tuning tweaks to clean them up.

You can utilize your tuning to increase your MPG.
I run 80T or 80E 90% of the time on my truck. I get 15-16mpg.
If I am going on a long trip and I don't wanna fuel as much I will kick down to 40T. I lose a little passing power but I get 20-22mpg while running 79mph (GPS Corrected)
Go with Casserly's sticks.. I spent around $5000 on bad injectors w/ labor bills and such b/c I was getting trash injectors! I can't put into words how happy I am w/ my Casserly injectors.
BTW... How heavy will you tow?
If I were to do it over again I would go stage II's. My EGT's are managable w/ very larges loads (Backhoe and jobboxes, 27k gross)
