the lights on my instrument cluster were workin good and then the other night they just quite working any ideas on were to start looking to fix it it a 79 with a tilt column and a 351 if it makes a diference thanks for the help guys and gals ford rules chevy shaters like a rock and dodge blows
it has good fuses that i can see the pevious owner hacked up the wiring harness some but but mostly with the radio wires but all the fuses look good it has the glass fuses that have the wire in side and they all look like they were intact i dont know i talkedto the parts store they said get a new headlight switch but i dont know if that could have any thing to do with it or not
It might, do you know which fuse is which? Do your park, taillights work? The 1990 Bronco has the instrument lights and the park lights on the same circuit. I think it's fuse #4. The radio has the illumination on the same circuit.
The dash light fuse is 4 amp fuse (really short one) . It only runs the dash, heater and radio lights. I would use a test light to confirm fuse good . Those old glass fuses sometimes would look good but be open on the end, inside the cap where you cant see. Power goes through the tail lamp fuse first then through the dash light fuse. So be sure the tail lamp fuse is good too.
ok so i replaced the fuse no change and then i tryed the headlight switch still nothing the lights in the instrument cluster are still not working i found a couple wires that the previous owner put in he put a end conector on the wires and just slid them in he fuse box one if i take it out turns off the interior lights and the other one turns off the radio so i dont know were to re route them and were i should hook them up properly i got a 6 blade fuse block would it be better to just rewire them into that any ideas
I would pull the instrument cluster to look at the back side . There is a printed circuit board that sometimes looses good contact with the plug in the back of it . Any way while you have it out you can check for power at the plug .
