I wanted to switch tunes tonight so I grabbed the Fuego (it is up for sale, need more power) went to swap the tune, uploaded it into the ecm and then went to start it to head to dinner. UhOH no start, ran the codes and it gave me the 1260 code, after some research I found out this was the PATS system disabling the truck. Oh great going to have to get a stealership to get it started again. I figured I would disconnect the batteries to see if that worked and bingo truck is running. I figured maybe it was a glitch so I went to install the tune again and bam same thing. Disconnected the batteries again to get it started. I reloaded the stock program and have left it. My question is, is it the tuner?? or could something be going wrong with my truck. I noticed a light surge at a stop light earlier this evening and I noticed that when it surged the lights very quickly flashed, (for lack of a better term). i had to stare at it to realize they were flickering at exactly the same time as the very light surge. You would not have heard it if the radio had been playing at all. Almost as if the ignition was being cut for a hundreth of a second. I did not notice it again. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
Sure sounds tuner related. Go try it again and see if you get the same PATS issue. When you upgrade, be sure to step up to a real tuner for the 7.3. The good ones have the switch on the fly option, no need to wait to flash the PCM.
