Im working on my 92 eddie, Found a good deal on a OHC from a 94 and have a few questions for anyone who can help....
Was OHC even an option in 92? Seems like every thing I have read so far mentions only 94-96
Does anyone have the part number for the OHC harness? I called ford and they said they could get one for 35 dollars... sounds fishy to me
Where does the temperature sensor mount?
Thanks
My 94 EB has it. Temp and compass. The module died about a year ago and I miss it. In your project, if you find a replacement module for the overhead console please let me know.
Ambient temperature sensor is mounted on rad support- drivers side-a little lower than left crash sensor and to the left of it (looking from front of truck right towards drivers fender).Only an option from 94 to 96 Bronco. ATC sends a signal to overhead console to indicate outside air temp. Two wires going to it- LB/O to ground and DB/Y console to ATC. LOL Blue PS I see these on ebay sometimes and have found them on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market under computor-not engine
The overhead console (hence OHC) - not to be confused with overhead cam in this instance - was a standard feature of the 94-96 Eddie Bauer Broncos; it was not even an option on any other Bronco or F-Series model of these years. (If anyone has evidence to the contrary I am listening.) That is not to say that one could not be installed in any 80-96 Bronco or F-Series: I have this project in the planning stage right now.
With that said, b4hntn, if you would like to restore your defunct console consider a module from a 95-01 Explorer: They are plentiful and should be compatible. Just be careful disassembling your console & the donor unit.
I got lucky repairing the temp/opmpass.. Got an overhead console for $30 on eBay from a salvaged 2000 Explorer. The module and map lights were a little different but the entire black assembly swapped perfectly. I used my original trim oval. The connector matches and everything works again.
After installation it is identical to the original in external appearance, just has a different inside design. I noticed the compass responds much faster. It now corrects in 2-3 seconds. The Explorer module case inside is white, not black. The Explorer module has square corners at the front, not angled. The Explorer connects to the printed circuit board at two places not one. The Explorer light bulbs are push in and twist not contacts on both end that you replace using a coin. The Explorer trim ring is much shorter and has different screw holes and two push in fasteners, not one. Explorer has T10 screws, not Phillips but threads are identical so I used Phillips in the swap.
That being said, the 2000 Explorer black assembly including the garage door opener compartment and lights is perfectly interchangeable with my 94 EB.
