I just traded in my 2000 X for a 2003 Eddie Bauer. It was a one owner truck and is excellent condition ( 70k miles ). It has Warn hubs and newer balljoints ( greaseable ). It also has a built in DVD player that looks almost like the stock one ( but is not ). Only problem is no sound from the DVD. I have to figure that out.
My reason for trading in the 2000 was mainly I was afraid of the spark plug blow out issue and one of the manifolds started leaking. I like the new bells and whistles, climate control, DVD, foglights, ect... Also it was getting up there in mileage. I had the 2000 for about 5 years and plan to keep this one forever.
Looks good - nice to find a newer one with some of the repairs already done for you. For the DVD sound - most of the aftermarket flip down screens work with an FM modulator. Check the lower end of the FM bands - most likely 88.1 through 89.7. Easy enough to check them all - just put a movie in and make sure it's playing and then manually tune through the stations. If you have the radio removal tool you can also pull the radio out and look for the modulator. They connect inline with the antenna and are easy to spot - you should then be able to see the box and it may have a label showing which channel is being used.

Yes I found the switch to turn the FM modulator on/off. When we took it for a test ride the radio stations were not coming in very well. I read after we bought it that you cannot leave the modulator on with the radio or you will have bad reception. I suspect the dealership did not realize there was a switch there and disconnected the modulator to fix it. I found what I think is the modulator under the dash ( small black box ) with wires running towards the radio. However I cannot pull the radio out to see where it connects.
That's most likely it - should have power and ground and then 2 RCA cords for the left and right channels. They may have pulled the fuse so I'd check for power first. If there is a switch and it makes a difference in the reception of the other stations you should have power already so check to make sure the RCA connectors from the DVD are connected. Typical installation looks like this:

During our test ride is when we noticed the lack of reception. The salesman said the shop would look at it. I checked the fuse and it's in there and good. I suspect they pulled the radio and hopefully just disconnected the modulator connection. I am going to the parts store to see if they have the radio removal tool. Thanks for your help.
I fixed the DVD sound! Pulled the radio and you could see the modulator antenna was unplugged, plugged it back in and all is well now. That was $4 well spent ( for the radio removal tool )!
