While working at the shop today changing some ball joints/ suspension on my truck we had a couple of out of towners show up with a problem. Their truck was a 02 250 7.3 auto with no power complaint. Ran the scanner to find a "un able to control ICP pressure" code. After digging some we found they had the wires at the ICP sensor plug were chaffed and we coated them and taped them up.... ran truck same code same problem... how ever not as bad. So you might think new ICP sensor right...? We checked his fuel filter on top of the motor.. clean and no trash.... so hmmm....Well as it turns out he had a Motorcraft fuel filter cannister by his fuel pump under the drivers door. It looked to be a pre pump filter. My truck... also a 02 F350 does not have this filter... so hmmm.... We removed that filter, and low and behold it was clogged solid. Installed new filter and bingo bango no more code and no more loss of power under load.
No we did not. I might ask the other guy at the shop who ordered the filter and see if he remembers the filter part number. Then maybe I could find a picture of that part number (filter) and post a picture of the filter. We both had thought it may have been a after market add on , with a run of the mil generic filter plumed in, but it had some compression style fuel line fittings, so we then wondered if it was in deed OEM. The fuel filter was directly feed from the line from the tank, then it supplied the fuel to that fuel pump, so not hard to just fab up by a do it yourselfer.
02 F250 extend cab long bed 7.3 auto XLT (I think) no power pedals (my 02 has them) and he had the Keyless Entry option (my 02 does not have keyless entry).
Our two trucks even had the same interior color and same pattern fabric.
